After a brief lull in activities as we tried to figure out how to navigate life with social distancing and work from home, we’re on course to finish the year as normally as we can to provide you ways to connect and learn. Two of our upcoming events are important fundraisers to support our mission, so we thank you in advance for supporting the Section. Each member should soon recieve their online ballot to vote for our 2020-2021 Section Board. This is strictly confidential and each link is unique to your user name, so we encourage you to vote. We hope you’ll sign up to join us online for our May luncheon. We will present our annual awards, swear in new board members, honor members who have achieved Life Membership status, and hear an update from Engineers Without Borders. We’ve also finalized the plans for our annual Spring Technical Seminar covering bridge design related topics. We’ll be conducting a series of online sessions around the lunch hour over the course of two weeks. We’re confident we can deliver the same technical education you’ve come to expect of this event, and you can do it in your pajamas! Similarly, we’re confident we can proceed safely with our annual golf outing in a slightly revised format. To adhere to social distancing guidelines, we’ll be limited to one person per cart. We’ll also forgo dinner to avoid the large mass gathering, though lunch will still be provided. A reduced number of spaces are filling up fast, so get your team together and get registered. It is hard to believe this is my final President’s Report and my term is up. It has been an honor to serve you, and thank you all for your support – especially in these unusual times the last few months. We have a lot to be excited about next year. Hopefully our events in the fall can resume in-person, and we’ll be celebrating our 100 th Anniversary as a Section! Be safe, and I hope to see you soon.
